Instead, another prominent star of the acting world Don Cheadle replaced him in the later productions of film. But with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) gone, it seems like he's tasked to maintain the Avengers' good relationship with the political power players, especially after the Sokovia Accords incident. As much as fans wanted to see more of Terrence Howard in the fictional role of War Machine, the actor did not return to any of the sequels of the film. This doesn't mean that Rhodey will no longer suit up in the MCU moving forward.
